Earth and Vines
Janet McDougall + Sandi Dogwood
Thrown, hand-built, sculptural and altered pieces comprise Janet McDougall's body of work. Each piece is unique and inspired by the nature that surrounds her near her home in Buckhorn.
Sandi Dogwood is a weaver of natural materials. She can often be found gathering in the swamps and ditches of the Buckhorn area. She uses vines, barks, tree branches, grasses, willow and dogwood to create baskets large and small, as well as large wall weavings. She enjoys creating custom wall weavings for those hard to fill areas of your home. Sandi offers one day courses on how to make a fish basket, one of her signature designs. A minimum of two people are needed to run a course.
In addition to weaving, Sandi also works with wire, creating sweeping pine trees and tall hardwoods mounted on local granite rock. Wire birds are sometimes found in weavings and trees, or are mounted on interesting wood features.
